Horticulture is the art, science, and business of plants. Here at Quince Orchard High School, students are allowed to take Horticulture as an elective after successfully completing biology. In class, we focus on the science of plants including how they grow, tricks to propagation, and plant identification. We explore the art in centerpiece and boutonniere arrangement and in the spring, we approach the business of plants in hosting a spring seedling sale.
We also have a very active club with members spanning all grade levels. Club members can explore independent projects or school improvement projects. In the past, we have recovered our shade gardens in the courtyard, planted the containers out front, and cared for many potted plants around the school. Our 15' x 30' greenhouse works overtime in plant production 7 months out of the year and is 100% student run. |
