Class Projects
Thanksgiving Centerpieces
Our fall business project involves an introduction to flower arranging in one of our most popular club fundraisers. Every year the centerpieces turn out more and more lovely. The year we sold 65 centerpieces all put together over 3 days before Thanksgiving.

Intro to Boutonnieres
A variety of flower arranging opportunities arise throughout the year. In the fall we do a basic boutonniere while in the spring, we get a little more creative for prom season.

Plant identification
Fall semester we spend a significant amount of time learning plant science. This includes an introduction to taxonomy concluding in a leaf collection complete with scientific naming of plants. This unit challenges students in a whole new way but is ultimately rewarding.

Science Experiments
During our fall term students carry out multiple science experiments. In this one students are timing tomato seed germination. Other projects include the affect of light on seedlings, soil testing, compost quality and more.
|
During our spring term the focus shifts more to practical horticulture with an emphasis on garden design, landscaping, and pruning. Our students work to care for our plants in the courtyard to better serve our community through the beauty of a well manicured space.
