The fish pepper is a small fairly hot pepper with a rich history. Not only are these 2 inch long green peppers striped, but the plant leaves are a beautiful mixture of speckled white and light green. The plants average one to two feet tall, but can grow to three feet, and can produce hundreds of pepper in a single season.
History: Fish peppers, though originally from the Caribbean, they were popular in the African-American community on the East Coast during the late 1800s to early 1900s. The light color of the pepper allowed it to be blended into cream based seafood dishes without changing the color, hence the name “fish pepper”.
